Walk & Roll Grand Traverse

Walk & Roll Grand Traverse is a 4-week free community-wide wellness challenge that runs September 1 through September 27, 2020.  The challenge aims to increase physical activity by challenging participants to walk, run, bike, skate, or roll to boost physical and mental health while highlighting some of the beautiful parks and trails in Grand Traverse County!  We are excited to have you join us for this challenge.

The Challenge


  • 4 weeks
  • Tuesday, September 1st through Sunday, September 27th, 2020
  • Log 
    • Time spent walking, running, biking, skating, or rolling
    • Number of participants
    • Total distance traveled
  • Work your way up to 30 minutes a day 5 days a week
  • Discover and explore parks and trails in Grand Traverse County
  • Play bingo


Participants may register as individuals, families, or groups to log time and distance toward a cumulative community goal. 

Get Moving

Working your way up to 30 minutes a day 5 days a week is recommended, but there is no minimum requirement to participate. Just start with what you can do and enjoy! As they say, it's better to move forward slowly than to stand still! Remember to follow your own health and fitness level guidelines, as well as social distancing guidelines at parks and trails.

Log Your Miles

Log Week 1 (September 1-6) Activities

At the beginning of each week, we will send you a link to log your activities from the week prior, including number of participants, total time spent moving, and total distance traveled.  

You may log your walking and rolling activities in your own neighborhood or anywhere you please, but to add to the fun, we've created a bingo card to help you discover and explore parks and trails within Grand Traverse County! 

Visit the LaFranier Loops

We encourage you to visit the newly created LaFranier Loops trail.  The loop is located behind the Public and Health Services Buildings on Grand Traverse County property at 2600-2650 LaFranier Road.  The 1-mile loop encompasses forests and fields and has bike racks and benches for your convenience.  Plus, it's the middle space on the bingo card!
