  1. 2018 Northwest MI Wine Grape Kickoff - Registration now open!

    Parallel 45 Vines and Wines, Inc., and MSU Extension are hosting the 2018 Northwest MI Wine Grape Kickoff on April 13, 2018. Internationally renowned enology and viticulture experts will educate Michigan grape and wine producers on virus management, promoting living soils in the vineyard, and building and integrating structure and aroma in the cellar. Clark Smith, a world-renowned winemaker, consultant and respected innovator for his pioneering contribution to the winemaking world, will provide 4.5 hours of winemaking education to grape and wine producers. Monica Cooper of the University of California Cooperative Extension and Agriculture and Natural Resources in Napa County, California, will offer one hour of vineyard virus management education. Lunch is provided and the day will end with an informal wine tasting and social - feel free to bring a bottle of wine to enjoy with others!

  2. Register Now for Free Hands-on Cooking and Nutrition Training for Child Care Professionals

    Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals is a course that teaches child care providers how to prepare healthy meals and create a positive food environment. Want to serve tasty, nourishing meals to children in your care? Want to learn cooking tips and nutrition advice from an expert? Want new recipe ideas that meet child care guidelines? If you said yes, come join us for a hands-on cooking and nutrition training at no cost to you! Participants will receive a workbook full of 34 child-friendly recipes and ideas for teaching children in your care about healthy eating and a certificate for 10 training credit hours (must attend both classes to receive a training certificate). There will be hands-on food preparation and tastings throughout the course, but please bring a lunch. Space is limited to 18 participants, so register early!

    Appointments are REQUIRED. Use the online appointment tool or call the RecycleSmart Hotline 231-941-5555. Grand Traverse County residents may dispose of 150 pounds of hazardous materials at no charge. A $1.30/pound fee will be charged for quantities greater than 150 pounds.
